Programmes

Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA.HM)

Hotelschool The Hague offers a single Bachelor programme on its campuses in The Hague and Amsterdam. The programme is taught in English for both national as international students. The 4 year Bachelor course results in the internationally recognized Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration in Hotel Management. As from September 2008 a new curriculum is introduced, covering the following key area's:

The university offers a Fast Track Programme too for students with previous hospitality qualifications. The first two years of the regular Bachelor programme are replaced by a special 6 week programme in summer, the rest of the course is merely comparable with the regular course.

Master in Science Hospitality Management

Together with Erasmus University, one of the top 10 business schools in Europe, it offers a 1 year programme, in which business science and hospitality leadership are combined, taking hospitality studies to academic levels.

International reputation

The course programmes have been accredited by the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO). Hotelschool The Hague is a member of the Leading Hotel Schools of the World; an association of top Hotel Schools in the world. Hotelschool The Hague has signed the Code of Conduct for international students and is registered as such with the Informatie Beheer Groep

Hotelschool The Hague is listed as one of the universities with the most foreign students, relatively to the total student population. In 2008-2009 that was approximately 25%, an increasing amount over the years.[2]

Entrepreneurial learning

Hotelschool The Hague’s curriculum is based on the principle of ‘entrepreneurial learning’. The lecturer acts as a coach, rather than as a teacher. Instead of lecturing he provides the students with tasks and assignments, gives them introductory lectures and assists when there is problem. This approach has drawn criticism from students, advocating that lecturers in this way shuns away from responsibility.

Dutch education is founded by problem-based learning, for which it had received international acclaim. The 'entrepreneurial learning' reflects that way of thinking and the education philosophy follows the traditional paper writing, working in groups to analyze and solve specific problems and acquiring practical work experience through internships.
